Ladies Fancy Dress Ideas

Ladies fancy dress can be very easily put together without spending too much money.

For a seventies fancy dress costume have a look round your local charity shops.  You should be able to find some flared jeans and flowery tops.  Add a poncho to a pair of jeans and flowered shirt and you have a simple but effective ladies fancy dress costume.  Ponchos come in all sizes, colours and materials.  They were fashionable in the 70s and even now they can still be found in some shops.  They are used instead of a jacket to keep you warm but can be made from finer material and used as a top.  Unless you’re attending an outdoor fancy dress party, wear a thin poncho for comfort.  If it’s an outside venue then go for a wool poncho for warmth.  If you can’t find one in the shops try making one yourself. They are very easy to make from an old blanket. Find instructions online for the basic outline and then just cut a hole for your head to go through.

Patchwork handbags and clothes were a fashion item of the seventies. Ladies can accessorise a basic jeans and blouse fancy dress costume with a patchwork leather bag.  Buy one in outrageous colours.  Markets are a great source for patchwork leather handbags and they are cheap because they are made with off cuts of leather.

Alternatively wear a flowery blouse with huge sleeves with your jeans or skirt.  70s ladies wore blouses made of chiffon and silk with psychedelic patterns.

Finish your ladies fancy dress costume off with a shaggy coat.  These were made from fake suede material with a thick pile shaggy lining.  Wear with a pair of knee length boots.

It doesn’t matter our age we women just love an excuse to dress up and with the festive season so close we don’t need any other reason to don our favourite christmas fancy dress costume.Girls, get ready to jingle Santa’s bells, rein in the reindeer and make Christmas a real cracker as we take a look at some stunning super sexy or just traditional festive fancy dress costumes around this year.

LADIES’ SEXY MINI SANTA DRESS: Too sexy for words if you have the figure to wear these little stunners. Whether you choose your little number with sleeves, straps or basque style, all of them are white fur-trimmed. If you’re feeling glitzy, you can even get them in sparkly or sequinned material, just look around. A hat or red glittery hair band would look great depending on your age, but a great finisher would be some long, red, sexy gloves edged with the white fur if you’re an adult with a sleeveless dress. Just don’t stand too close to any mistletoe while wearing this outfit!!!If you really want to stand out and shine, you may wish to consider a ladies’ light-up Santa costume. These outfits have minute lights sewn into the skirt part of the dress. It’s up to you when you decide to switch them on, but there’s one thing for sure – they‘re not to be worn if you want to avoid anyone. A great fun outfit.

VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS CAROLLER: For those ladies that want to dress up but cover up a bit more, this beautiful traditional costume will take you back to the old-style Dickensian Christmas card and films. The costume is traditionally calf or ankle length and green is the most popular colour. A hooded cape edged in some kind of red plaid would set off the era of the costume and a large white fur muff is a perfect finisher. This would be a great outfit to keep you nice and warm if you go carolling on a cold night while looking truly authentic..

SEXY ELF: You can be one of Santa’s little helpers in this festive frock, but I would suggest not wearing this if you still have all the presents to put out around the tree. The elf costume edges are usually shaped into points around the skirt bottom and sleeves. You must wear the hat if you want to be traditional. TIP: If it’s cold where you live, then get some long-legged, striped elf stockings; they look terrific and funky, honest, and don’t forget the elf slippers if you’re looking to do the whole theme.

ADULT FAIRY: If you’re into ultra-feminine, then this costume would be a perfect choice. It tends to come in various lengths along with halo and wings. Hints of pale pinks and blues are often found in the material with some touches of glitter and sequins sewn on, making this a stunning and quite beautiful costume to wear. Just be careful you don’t snag your wings while partying!!

With Christmas fancy dress costumes, it’s all about sparkle and spangles so add some facial glitter high on the cheekbones and get some fabulous red lipstick and a good quality lip gloss as you don’t want it running. Red, silver, gold, glittery or sequinned bows, earrings, hair bands all help to set the festive scene; oh, and girls, don’t forget to carry a sprig of mistletoe when partying.
